It's going to be difficult to post new images without the appropriate technology, But I will do my best.

this is interesting because it could be a soft rolling landscape at dusk or a prostrate body close up. I find myself wondering though why this is ok to me either way and why a picture on a telephone pole is not. I think this one reveals a bit more about the photographer, a bit more feeling, a bit more nuance, a bit more thought put into it and not a photo of someone else completely.
So -i can dig it. Plus i love the simplicity of the lines and the single wispy cloud and the subtleness of tone.

Wait, so is this a self-portrait as it is tagged, or is this just a photograph that is not from the assignment?

I guess I answer, here. I'm not totally sure how this blogging thing works. It is a self portrait, Derek. Isn't everything you shoot, really? Maybe that's why I don't do that much shooting. I didn't take it for this little project (The Photographic Medium). It's from my visit to Ireland. I think it will be too difficult to shoot, process and scan with my limited resources, time and energy included. This might not be the right thing for me, now. We'll see...If it's not from the assignment (really?) are you reserving the right not to comment?

Regardless of whether or not this fits the assignment, I think we should just focus on critiquing the image.

I like the softness of the photo and the atmospheric quality created. The little wisp of gray clouds keep drawing me back to the upper left corner.

It feels like Mimi.

Difficult times call for difficult Mimi! Yeah maybe I should not have even taken a picture and said that it was a self-portrait (post-modernism makes me mad). Anyway, I will stop with this kind of talk because it is hard to get an accurate assessment of tone on these types of things, and I don't want to offend anyone.

My point was in asking whether the picture was a self-portrait or just another picture you wanted comments on because we had assigned a self-portrait topic but wanted to make sure people also posted other images just for feedback. So I was not trying to be funny or rude, I was just wanting to know the context so I could talk about it better. I hope that even if you can't make the pictures every week that you can still join in on the discussions and help with the critiquing.

As to this photo entry...I like it, it is nice.

:)

No offense taken, McGregor. I've laughed out loud (I refuse to do that three letter thing) quite a few times at some of the commentary. This is fun.

I really enjoy how the hill-ish figure in the distance is lighter than foreground. Especially since the distance is often darker at least spatially. I think the idea of light in the distance is very telling. I think this photograph is very simple and beautiful.

I do like the image and the sence of quietness i feel. however it seems to have an undercurrent of anxiety, it feels like this is taken right before the clouds filled the sky and all hell broke loose.

i dunno, thats just what i feel.
this is jana by the way
