Most overused word in the past year:
Random.
I understand how the word works in casual conversation, but what really is random about this? Is it only because they don't fit an assignment or because these are the two that survived the edit? You did like something about them, they obviously coincide with some aesthetic practices that we all recognize from your work. I'm sure you didn't shoot hundreds of images and throw two darts at Adobe Bridge, then process the files you hit. Nor did you drive around with your eyes closed and fire your shutter accidentally.
I understand I sound like a smart ass right now,(most of this comes from hearing semi-retarded co-eds squeal about 'random' phone calls from people they gave their phone number to) this is not an attack at you or your work, but I'm tired of hearing this word used improperly.
We all know what we are shooting, why we are shooting and when we are doing it, and there is nothing random about it.
I think you could make a strong argument that these images are "random" in the sense that they are not "specific." They are not tied to each other by subject or style, and they are not adhering to a particular assignment or overtly obvious theme.
Obviously they have a strong relation to each other because they were shot by the same photographer, and therefore are a mirror of said person in at least some way. But pointing that out is more than just a bit pedantic.
I raise my pimp cup to the random and absurd.
haha. Drew, you secretly hate me.
"Serioulsy?"
No way Jose! Jana, you were just the first to say the word while I was hating on it so much.
