I really like this. It feels really honest. I'm not exactly sure why, its just the word that comes to mind. It feels a lot like images that William Eggleston took in Mississippi. The interactions are very real and not presumptuous. The man is aware of the camera and he chooses not to engage, same with the dogs. They're unaffected by your shooting because they're too busy sniffing butt. Its says something about how people and semi-wild animals relax on a quiet dusty road and coexist in this dusty hot town.
i've never been to Argentina but i can imagine that this is a pretty good representation of rural life.
I agree with Drew's interpretation. This is genuine, you were in the right place at the right time and I feel very comfortable that you took this photograph, Kristen. This is not the Argentina, I know. I think this is a good representation of rural life anywhere.
Mimi, I don't like the phrase right place right time. I think his uninterested reaction was due to me.
You were still in the right place at the right time to take the shot. Someone else might not have seen what you saw. You were able to take advantage of the moment because of your ability to see it and react. I feel comfortable that you captured what you saw, no accidents. That included him reacting or not reacting to you being there. I have a hard time doing that. I have a lot of awesome moments burned into my memory.
